  New Flyer receives order for up to 21 Valley Metro RPTA buses
 

Phoenix’s Valley Metro Regional Public Transportation Authority (RPTA) awarded New Flyer a contract for up to 21 (or 42 equivalent units or “EUs”) heavy-duty 60-foot Xcelsior® compressed natural gas (CNG) buses.

Phoenix’s Valley Metro Regional Public Transportation Authority (RPTA) awarded New Flyer a contract for up to 21 (or 42 equivalent units or “EUs”) heavy-duty 60-foot Xcelsior® compressed natural gas (CNG) buses.

The contract includes a firm order for 10 (20 EU) 60-foot Xcelsior CNG buses value at approximately $9 million dollars with the option to purchase up to an additional 11 (22 EU) XN60 buses over the five-year contract term.

  Proterra names Horton to COO post
 
   


 

Proterra, heavy-duty electric transportation manufacturer, announced that Matt Horton has been named the chief commercial officer. 

In his new role, Horton will oversee the end-to-end customer lifecycle for the rapidly growing number of municipal, university and commercial transit agencies deploying Proterra’s zero-emission, battery-electric buses throughout North America.

Expanding upon his former role as senior VP, sales and marketing, Horton will manage the overall customer experience, facilitate product development needs, drive sales and fleet deployments.

  FTA to withhold funding from D.C., MD & VA pending safety
  oversight program
 
   

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) notified the transit systems in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia that effective immediately it will withhold 5% of Fiscal Year 2017 transit formula funds until a new State Safety Oversight Program (SSOP) is certified for the rail operations of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA).

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) notified the transit systems in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia that effective immediately it will withhold 5% of Fiscal Year 2017 transit formula funds until a new State Safety Oversight Program (SSOP) is certified for the rail operations of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA).
