  'Skinny Budget' cuts U.S. DOT funding by $2.4B
 

WASHINGTON, D.C.  -  The Department of Transportation (DOT) faces a $2.4 billion cut under President Trump's proposed federal budget blueprint, The Hill reports.

WASHINGTON, D.C.  -  The Department of Transportation (DOT) faces a $2.4 billion cut under President Trump's proposed federal budget blueprint, The Hill reports.

Under Trump’s proposal, the DOT's funding would be cut by 13%, to $16.2 billion, and limits funding for the Federal Transit Administration's Capital Investment program, eliminates funding for the Essential Air Service program, and ends federal support for long-distance Amtrak trains.

Interim American Public Transportation Association President/CEO released the following statement in reaction to the proposal:

“The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) is surprised and disappointed that at the same time the Trump Administration is proposing to invest $1 trillion in infrastructure, the White House is recommending cutting billions of dollars from existing transportation and public transit infrastructure programs in its proposed ‘Skinny Budget,’ for Fiscal...............    READ MORE >

 

 
  MARTA piloting electric bus technology
 

Georgia - Residents in Fulton and DeKalb counties will soon see a new electric bus added to various routes. The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) is going green with a pilot program debuting Proterra’s Catalyst electric bus.

The 40-foot Catalyst is on loan to MARTA for the next 30 days as the Authority explores cleaner transportation options. MARTA’s GM/CEO Keith Parker led a tour of the new electric bus on March 17.
