  LYNX marketing team wins 1st place awards from FPTA

The Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (LYNX) marketing team earned two first place marketing awards from the Florida Public Transportation Association (FPTA). This is the eighth consecutive year LYNX marketing has earned FPTA recognition for creative work.

The team earned one of the awards for Electronic Media/Audio-Visual and Digital Media for the LYNX Technology Video. This video was produced in partnership with Three21, a local digital and creative agency, located in downtown Orlando, Fla.

With several technology projects underway in early 2017, LYNX wanted to create a video showing the Central Florida community how the agency would be enhancing the customer experience. The video includes segments on enhancements already in service such as free Wi-Fi, the LYNX Bus Tracker real-time app and NeighborLink trip booking; and another coming soon, LYNX PawPass, a mobile payment app.  

The other award was for Interior/Exterior and Signage. Each year the agency hires Santa to drive a holiday themed bus. This bus provides free rides and lots of joy to unsuspecting customers. The holiday bus wrap gave riders a glimpse of Santa’s workshop on the outside. When customers entered the bus they were delighted to find the toy-theme carried throughout the inside.   MCI appoints Southeast regional VP

Sean Kelchen joins MCI

Motor Coach Industries (MCI) announced that Sean Kelchen has joined the company as new coach sales regional VP for the Southeast.

Kelchin will serve MCI customers in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. He will be based in Nashville, reporting to New Coach Sales VP Pat Ziska.

Kelchen previously worked as director of operations for a bus company that provides high-end passenger line-haul scheduled service between Dallas, Austin, Houston, Fort Worth and San Antonio, Texas.

Motor Coach Industries (MCI) announced that Sean Kelchen has joined the company as new coach sales regional VP for the Southeast.

Kelchen began his career in 1992 as a driver for Tri-State Travel in Galena, Ill. He left Tri-State in 1994 for Harker’s Distribution, a food service wholesaler and manufacturer, where he held sales and transportation management positions. He also had an 11-year career in operations management with Linn Star Transfer, a logistics company where he opened 14 warehouse and delivery centers throughout the United States.   READ MORE >

 
 
 
 
 
  Thomas Built Reveals New Electric School Bus

From School Bus Fleet:

COLUMBUS, Ohio  -  Thomas Built Buses unveiled a new electric school bus at the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) conference here on Saturday.

Thomas Built President and CEO Caley Edgerly surprised attendees by driving an electric Saf-T-Liner C2 model, dubbed Jouley, into a large exhibit hall during a Saturday afternoon session.

The electric bus runs on an Efficient Drivetrains Inc. PowerDrive 7000EV powertrain and has an approximate range of 100 miles. Edgerly said that he foresees Jouley going into early production in 2019.

Leslie Kilgore, vice president of engineering for Thomas Built, noted that while the electric bus is expected to carry a purchase price of about three times that of a diesel bus, grants and other incentives are being made available "to bring it back down to a traditional cost."
