Echo/AFC Transportation Adds Seven New Van Hool CX45 Coaches to Fleet

From ABC Companies:

Echo/AFC Transportation, the largest privately held ground transportation company in Texas, has added seven new 2019 Van Hool CX45 coaches to its premium fleet of over 300 vehicles. A full-service ground transportation and logistics management leader, Echo/AFC operations span the entire state of Texas providing group travel services for a full range of tour, charter, shuttle, limo and commuter services.

"These new coaches are built to a customized specification that will support an elite passenger experience that is the hallmark of the Echo/AFC Transportation brand", said John Ferrari, Echo/AFC Transportation CEO. The seven newly-delivered Van Hool CX45 models offer passenger seating for up to 56 guests and the coaches offer a mix of luxury upgrades including leather-insert seats, contoured and modified contoured parcel racks with integrated 23" monitors, 110V outlets with USB connectors, and woodgrain flooring throughout. Several of the coaches also feature chrome mirrors, side view cameras and three models are fully-ADA compliant with Braun wheelchair lifts. "Our amenities package is a great investment, as our passengers love the way these coaches look and feel and our drivers appreciate how the coaches handle, and the simplicity of the integrated drivers dash area is a huge plus for our driving staff", noted Mr. Ferrari. The new coaches also sport a black tone-on-tone graphics package scheme that prominently features a freshly rebranded corporate logo that unifies the Echo/AFC brands within a simple and modern design.

ABC's relationship with Echo goes as far back as 1999. ABC has been providing the operator with new Van Hool equipment as they cycle out older models every few years. "John and his team are incredible to work with, said Greg Gates, Senior Account Manager at ABC Companies', Grand Prairie, Texas location. "Helping to ensure that the fleet is as modern and reliable as possible is integral to supporting their operational goals", said Gates. With over 95% of the fleet comprised of Van Hool models, Echo/AFC relies on ABC's Support team for warranty and technical issues according to Mr. Gates. "ABC's technical team is second to none in terms of responsiveness, reliability and knowledge", reports Ferrari.

Visa, partners bring contactless fare payment to worldwide transit operators

From Metro:

Visa and Planeta Informatica are launching new technology that enables public transit operators worldwide to implement contactless payments "faster and easier than ever." The Visa Secure Access Module (SAM) makes it easy for transit organizations and operators to begin offering riders the ability to tap to pay with a contactless card, phone, or wearable device, without the expense and technical requirements of replacing current turnstiles or terminal hardware.

Contactless payments are shaping the future of mass transit in major cities around the world, helping riders save valuable time by eliminating the need to stand in line to buy or re-load a ticket. For transit operators that have invested in turnstiles and terminal readers recently, the Visa SAM may be a cost-effective solution to offer the benefits of a contactless transit experience, including improving the customer experience, boosting ridership, and reducing ticketing overheads. Rather than installing brand new turnstiles or hardware, transit operators can install the Visa SAM, which is based on secure EMV® contactless technology, directly into existing systems, significantly decreasing cost and implementation time.

The Visa SAM is the first technology of its kind for the transit industry, available to all Visa Ready technology partners, making it easy for other transit hardware and software companies to incorporate it into their offerings

he Visa Secure Access Module (SAM) makes it easy for transit organizations and operators to begin offering riders the ability to tap to pay with a contactless card, phone, or wearable device, without the expense and technical requirements of replacing current turnstiles or terminal hardware.

"Through our work with Planeta Informatica, we have pioneered a way to accelerate the shift to contactless transit that is scalable and highly secure, while generating time and cost savings for transit operators by removing the hurdles of replacing potentially thousands of transit readers across the transport system," said Nick Mackie, global head of urban mobility for Visa.

In a global study commissioned by Visa, "The Future of Transportation: Mobility in the Age of the Megacity," Visa found complexity in payment is often a point of frustration among commuters on mass transit today, so, solutions like contactless transit that make payments easier could be critical to increasing ridership and satisfaction in the future. Commuters reported that the average use of mass transit would increase by 27% if it was easier to pay, with 47% saying the need to obtain different tickets for different modes of travel is........    READ MORE >

Video Shows N.Y. Motorist Using Sidewalk to Pass School Buses

Video shows a motorist here driving onto the sidewalk to get around parked school buses, narrowly missing young students.

From School Bus Fleet:

BOROUGH PARK, N.Y.  -  Video shows a motorist here driving onto the sidewalk to get around parked school buses, narrowly missing young students.

Former State Assemblyman Dov Hikind told WABC that the video was recorded at the Vizhnitz Cheder school on 53rd St., where the buses were dropping off students. The video shows the students walking across the sidewalk toward the entrance when the driver approaches and waits for several to run in front of the vehicle before driving past them.

In a tweet accompanying the video, Hikind said that he is urging the New York Police Department to take action against the motorist responsible for the "reckless endangerment of children’s welfare."

Hikind later told WABC that the video footage and license plate number have been given to the department’s chief of police, and that he believes the driver lives in the neighborhood. Police confirmed to the news source that detectives are looking into the incident.....   SEE VIDEO & READ MORE >
