  National Trails Adds New Van Hool CX45 to Fleet

ABC Supports New Ownership with Hands-on Sales and After Sales Support.

National Trails, Inc., of Southfield, MI has taken delivery of a new Van Hool CX45 motorcoach. The regional charter and tour operation currently runs several Van Hool T2100 coaches in the fleet, and this delivery represents the first transaction between ABC and the company's new owner, Mr. Austin Arksey, who recently acquired the business from the Frank family. The company has provided charter bus rental services in Southeast Michigan for over 35 years, and under the leadership of Mr. Arksey, looks forward to continued growth and market expansion.

The new 56-passenger Van Hool CX45 features many passenger amenities including comfortable passenger seats with USB and 110V outlets, REI Elite HDMI System with six 15.6" monitors, and woodgrain flooring throughout. The new CX45 will be rotated in service to support National's diverse charter bookings for tour groups, corporate outings, school trips and athletics, nights on the town and more.

Mr. Arksey continues to make enhancements to the operation according to Mr. Pete Bachrach, ABC Senior Account Executive/Midwest Region. "Austin is passionate about the business and the industry", he said, "We're excited to support his vision, and believe that his team and company will make an ongoing impact in the market". ABC Field Technicians will be conducting new coach orientation and familiarization training to National Trails service mechanics at their Southfield, Michigan location in early September. Additionally, National Trails' service staff plan to participate in hands-on ABC Tech Training programs offered throughout the year for extensive technical training covering HVAC, electrical wiring, multiplex systems and more.   Homeland Security grants awarded to intercity bus operators

  
The grants announced by DHS for the 2019 fiscal year will come from the Intercity Bus Security Grant Program (IBSGP), which "plays an important role in the implementation of the National Preparedness System by supporting the building, sustainment and delivery of core capabilities essential to achieving the National Preparedness Goal of a secure and resilient Nation."

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded $2 million in grants to 29 intercity bus operators "to protect critical surface transportation infrastructure and the traveling public from acts of terrorism and to increase the resilience of transit infrastructure."

The grants announced by DHS for the 2019 fiscal year will come from the Intercity Bus Security Grant Program (IBSGP), which "plays an important role in the implementation of the National Preparedness System by supporting the building, sustainment and delivery of core capabilities essential to achieving the National Preparedness Goal of a secure and resilient Nation."

The bus security grants are part of $1.7 billion in funding given to states, local areas, tribal and territorial governments, nonprofit agencies and the private sector during the current year. DHS said the grants focus on "31 high-threat, high-density urban areas" that "face the most significant threats."

  Kansas Launches School Bus Safety Campaign

TOPEKA, Kan.  -  The Kansas State Department of Education has launched "Stop on Red, Kids Ahead," a new campaign that aims to raise awareness about illegal bus passing, and received a donation of materials from a local school bus manufacturer.

As Kansas schools gear up for the 2019-20 school year, the Department of Education is conducting outreach to remind motorists that they must stop when approaching a stopped school bus from either direction when its flashing red lights are on and its stop arm is extended. Motorists are required to remain stopped until the bus is no longer displaying its flashing red lights and stop arm. Violation of the law is punishable by a fine and court costs in excess of $420, according to a news release from the Department of Education.

 

The Kansas State Department of Education has launched "Stop on Red, Kids Ahead," a new campaign that aims to raise awareness about illegal bus passing, and received a donation of materials from a local school bus manufacturer.

The campaign includes news releases, social media reminders, posters for schools, safety flyers, and informational handouts, as well as 10,000 bumper stickers donated by Collins Bus Corp., a subsidiary of REV Group.
