From Prevost:

On Wednesday, May 15, 2020, Prevost and more than 800 motorcoaches circled on routes around the Capitol in Washington to give legislators a visual reminder that the industry needs federal assistance in the next aid bill.

The Washington rally culminates weeks of advocacy and education with our federal policymakers of the need for aid for the motorcoach industry during these unprecedented times. Prevost team members worked together with other industry members to plan the event. Three specially decaled Prevost coaches were driven by members of the Prevost sales team, and two service vans with certified Prevost technicians were on hand and ready to address any issues while the coaches rolled through the city.

"Prevost stands with the motorcoach operators asking for funding to get them through this time of extraordinary hardship. Motorcoaches are an integral part of the infrastructure of transportation throughout this great country," says Francois Tremblay, vice-president and general manager, Prevost. "Now is the time to recognize how important this industry is to the nation and earmark funding to assist this amazing and caring industry."

Prevost is pleased to contribute to the funding of the rally via the GoFundMe support page, and to collaborate with the American Bus Association, United Motorcoach Association, motorcoach operators from across the U.S. and other OEMs to make this event a success.

Procession of 40 MTS Buses Honors Life and Legacy of Transit Champion Paul Jablonski

San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) Chief Executive Officer Paul Jablonski began his career as a bus driver. His transit career came full circle on Friday when MTS honored its late CEO with a procession of 40 MTS buses through downtown San Diego.

    From Bus Ride Magazine:

San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) Chief Executive Officer Paul Jablonski began his career as a bus driver. His transit career came full circle on Friday when MTS honored its late CEO with a procession of 40 MTS buses through downtown San Diego.

Many of the attributes Paul learned from being behind the wheel – leadership, attentiveness, accountability, public service, and more, he applied to every position he held in a career that spanned more than 40 years. Paul Jablonski passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 10.

"It was a fitting tribute for Paul," said MTS Board Chair Nathan Fletcher. "This region will never know how much Paul did for public transit. He transformed the transit operation into a highly efficient system that provided more service to the communities that need it the most. He will be dearly missed. But we can honor his legacy by continuing to build on all the great things he did for MTS."

In 2004, when Paul began his career at MTS, it was just after most functions had been transferred to SANDAG. "We don't have the personnel to run payroll" was how Paul Jablonski was greeted on his first day at the helm of MTS. Paul figured out that challenge and many more. The Metropolitan Transit Development Board (as MTS was formerly known) was not a smooth-running multi-modal public transit provider on Day One of Paul's tenure; but he developed one almost from scratch.

     From School Bus Fleet:

School bus manufacturer Blue Bird is offering a free, downloadable guide with best practices for disinfecting school buses.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that routine cleaning and disinfection procedures (e.g. using cleaners and water to pre-clean surfaces prior to applying an EPA-registered disinfectant to frequently touched surfaces as indicated on the product’s label) are appropriate to minimize the spread and cross-contamination of common bacterial and viral pathogens, Blue Bird noted in a news release.
