Inflation and vehicle devaluation are adding extra layers of complexity to insurance renewals, according to a panel of experts who offered guidance as buses are getting back on the road.

"Commercial auto remains a struggle for the industry," said Steve Blankenship, Vice President of Passenger Transportation for National Interstate Insurance Co., noting the auto line of business has been losing money for years. "Our short-term view really is continuing to focus on pandemic support but also continuing to try to be diligent as the industry attempts to figure out the commercial auto struggles."................

  UMA Names Michael as President and CEO


The United Motorcoach Association (UMA) announced that Scott Michael has been named president and CEO. Michael will begin his tenure at UMA on Oct. 4.

The United Motorcoach Association (UMA) announced that Scott Michael has been named president and CEO. Michael will begin his tenure at UMA on Oct. 4.  Current president and CEO Larry Killingsworth will stay on at UMA during the month of October to facilitate the transition.

The announcement followed a nationwide recruitment process that began in June. UMA vice chairman David Moody led the executive search along with other UMA Members.....................

In her new role, Eads will oversee the design, development, research, and testing of new technologies, while helping to shape the long-term engineering strategy for the TBB organization, according to a news release from the school bus manufacturer. Eads joins TBB from Cummins Inc. where she held increasing roles of responsibility in engineering during a 20-year tenure. Most recently, she served as the director of engineering, electrified products.

"We are excited to have Kendra join the TBB team," said Kevin Bangston, president and CEO of TBB. "Her extensive knowledge in conventional and electrified powertrains, and her experience in full product lifecycle engineering make her uniquely qualified for the role. We look forward to what she will accomplish and how she will help steer the future of Thomas Built Buses."..............
