  ACE Express wins $26.5M contract to operate Colorado motorcoach transit services

ACE Express Coaches LLC (ACE Express), a U.S. subsidiary of Kelsian Group Ltd., has been awarded a new contract to operate statewide motorcoach transit services throughout Colorado, including the Bustang and Pegasus services.

The contract, beginning on Nov. 1, is projected to generate up to $26.5 million in revenue in its first year.

"Contract retention remains a key pillar of our global growth strategy, and we're pleased with the recent outcome of AAAHI's competitive tender with the state of Colorado's Department of Transportation," said Clint Feuerherdt, Managing Director of Kelsian Group.

ACE Express has operated these services since 2015, using vehicles owned and supplied by the state. The new one-year contract includes four one-year extension options and offers expansion opportunities that could potentially double the scope of services provided to the state by increasing the fleet of vehicles...................................

  MBTA Pilots NextGen Bus Navigation Technology

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) has launched its NextGen Bus Navigation Pilot Program, aimed at assisting bus operators in navigating detours and road challenges.

In collaboration with transit technology company Swiftly, the program will equip up to 100 buses with tablet-based turn-by-turn navigation, providing real-time directions alike to those used in navigation apps like Google Maps or Apple Maps.

The program is supported by new features within the MBTA's internal dispatching app, Skate. These tools allow the Operations Control Centre to create, monitor, and manage unplanned bus detours in real time, enhancing the agency's ability to respond to disruptions..........................

Among those feeling the strain is Stafford County Public Schools in Virginia, where transportation leaders are finding both challenges and triumphs amid the shortage.

"Stafford County Public Schools continues to experience the effects from the nationwide school transportation professional shortage," said Karim Johnson, executive director for transportation services and a former SBF Administrator of the Year. "This includes not just bus drivers, but also the essential bus attendants needed to meet the requirements of students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Head Start needs.
