  National Transportation Safety Board Appoints Alvin Brown as Vice Chairman

President Biden appointed former Jacksonville, Florida Mayor Alvin Brown as the vice chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

"I am honored to be named in this new role of vice chair of the National Transportation Safety Board,” Brown said. “The NTSB is the gold standard for public safety, and I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues at this federal agency to save lives and make transportation safer.”

The Senate confirmed Brown as the 47th board member last march, with his term running through 2026. From 2011 to 2015 Brown served as mayor of Jacksonville. In addition, he served as a senior advisor for community infrastructure opportunities at the U.S. Department of Transportation before serving on the NTSB....................................

  Solaris Signs First United States Contract

Solaris Bus & Coach has announced it has signed its first contract for a vehicle delivery in the United States, following a new order placed by Washington-based transit agency, King County Metro. The contract will see the company deliver two 40-foot battery electric buses and two 60-foot articulated buses, with an option for up to twelve additional units.

The vehicles, which are due for delivery in the second half of 2026, will be based on an electric-born platform configured specifically for the North American market in full compliance with all US regulations, including FMVSS and ADA.

Javier Iriarte, CEO of Solaris Bus & Coach, said:

"This agreement is an incredibly important achievement and a milestone in the history of Solaris. This is another step towards the realization of our strategic goals, and of our vision to make Solaris the supplier of choice in North America for zero emission buses.
