  New York MTA Purchases 265 Electric Buses

New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has announced the purchase of 265 new zero-emission electric buses. These buses will operate across New York City's five boroughs, joining a fleet of 60 zero-emission buses added last year, with 205 more set to arrive later in 2025.

The 40-foot buses feature advanced electric traction systems that recover up to 90% of energy during braking, significantly reducing wear and enhancing efficiency. Each bus is projected to lower greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 90 metric tons annually, aligning with the MTA's goal of running a fully electric fleet by 2040. The transition will ultimately prevent 500,000 metric tons of emissions annually

With the addition of New Orleans Tours' fleet of 18 shuttles and buses, American Safety now has more than 200 vehicles to serve groups, convention visitors, sports teams, and the influx of fans expected for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.

Ahead of President Donald Trump returning to the Oval Office and his promise to “drill, baby, drill,” school districts nationwide indicated they weren't completely sold on electric school buses. That is one conclusion that could be made after school bus manufacturers reported only 26 more electric school buses were manufactured despite year three of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's $5 billion Clean School Bus Program and a 145-percent increase in electric manufacturing the previous year.

It should be noted that school bus manufacturers have only so much current capacity at their factories for electric school buses despite recent new plants opening over the past year. However, one of those, Lion Electric's plant in Joliet, Illinois, was closed at least temporarily at the end of 2024. At this report, it remained to be seen how long the............................
