  MCI customers win big at industry awards events

The awards, presented by organizations including the American Bus Association (ABA), International Motorcoach Group (IMG), Trailways Transportation System Inc., and United Motorcoach Association (UMA), recognized companies for achievements in safety, sustainability, performance, and leadership.

"MCI is proud to see our customers recognized for their industry leadership," said Brent Maitland, vice president of private market sales and marketing at MCI. "It's always great to gather as an industry and celebrate those who perform at a high level, day in and day out. Congratulations to all the award winners."

These MCI customers were recognized:
* Arrow Stage Lines received the IMG Safety Award for its dedication to safety.
* Martz Trailways was presented with a Trailways Safety Award as the most improved fleet service in the charter and tour division.
* Mosaic Global Transportation earned the UMA Environmental Leadership Award for its positive environmental impact.
* UMA Director Scott Riccio, owner of Northeast Charter and Tour Company, received the BUSride Good Stewardship Award in recognition
   of decades of leadership and commitment to the motorcoach industry................

  Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) to Ban Violent Offenders

In alignment with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's Strategic Transformation Plan, the agency's board of directors adopted a banning policy, which will take effect on June 2, or on a later date as may be necessary for all administrative processes to be in place.

The purpose of the banning policy is to prohibit a person who commits a sex or sex-related crime or any assault on a WMATA employee, contractor, or customer from entering or using the agency's system, properties, or facilities for more than 24 hours.

WMATA's Change in Policy: Currently, MTPD may ban a person for up to 24 hours if they violate the passenger conduct rules in WMATA's Tariff, which includes abusive, unacceptable, or unsafe conduct. Under the new policy, the banning period will apply as follows:

* First offense: 45 days
* Second offense: 90 days
* Third offense: 365 days
* The policy allows for appeals of any banning period longer than....................................

  West Virginia Man Charged After Illegally Passing Stopped School Bus

A man in Kanawha County was arrested after driving around a school bus that had its stop sign out and nearly striking a student. The incident took place on March 14 at approximately 3:41 p.m., when Kevin W. Webster illegally passed a stopped school bus and nearly hit a child.

Initially, the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office released a statement asking the public's help in identifying the driver of a white Lincoln sedan that drove past a stopped Kanawha County school bus..................................
