Best Trails & Travel is celebrating 30 years on the road in signature style — with the addition of two custom-designed Prevost H3-45 motorcoaches that reflect the company's commitment to high-end, personalized service.

The new vehicles, which joined the fleet in May, bring the New York City-based charter company's total to 66 coaches—more than half of which are Prevost models. From Metro:

The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) released its updated Capital Needs Inventory (CNI) and Prioritization Report, outlining a strategic roadmap for investment in the agency's multimodal transit infrastructure over the next decade.

The report identifies the resources needed to maintain a State of Good Repair (SGR) across bus, rail, and paratransit services while advancing key modernization and customer experience projects. The 10-year CNI includes funding projections for major initiatives such as the Frederick Douglass Tunnel, Purple Line, and several MARC Train improvements.

Central to the plan is the MTA's continued focus on eliminating the agency's backlog of deferred maintenance and preservation needs. According to the report, the number of MTA assets outside a State of Good Repair is projected to decline as soon as next year. If funding is sustained at recommended levels, that backlog could be nearly eliminated within a decade...............................................

When Kara Sands took a job as a school bus driver at the age of 21, she wasn't sure how she would like working with children. Today, she's on a mission to further safety and prevent school bus accidents.

Sands, transportation lead trainer and driver at Hanover Community Schools Corporation in Indiana, was selected to receive the inaugural “Dick Fischer School Bus Safety Scholarship,” a continuing education scholarship named for industry veteran Richard “Dick” Fischer, who successfully petitioned President Richard Nixon in 1972 to create the first federal recognition of National School Bus Safety Week. The scholarship provides one safety-oriented student transportation professional the opportunity to attend the STN EXPO West conference in Reno, Nevada.

Sands said her introduction to the world of student transportation began with a surprise pregnancy discovered on her 21st birthday while she was in college. She explained that the bus company she applied to in Illinois offered child-care and paid well, which led to her first job driving a school bus. She discovered that she loved working with the students................................................
