  Tim Barnes named VP of sales at MCI

Motor Coach Industries (MCI), a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc., has named Tim Barnes as vice president of private sector sales, the company announced Thursday.

Barnes succeeds Tom Wagner, who earlier this year was promoted to lead all private sector commercial operations under MCI’s Project Focus initiative. In his new role, Barnes will oversee new coach sales and customer relationships across North America’s private motorcoach market.

"Tim’s deep industry experience, strong customer relationships, and commitment to service excellence make him the ideal leader to take our private sector sales team forward," Wagner said. "Having worked closely with him during his tenure at NFI Parts, I know he brings a collaborative, customer-first mindset that our operators will appreciate."..................

Sam's Limousine and Transportation has expanded its luxury fleet with the addition of 13 new J4500 motorcoaches. The recent delivery brings Sam's fleet to 50 fully customized, late-model J4500 coaches, making the Houston-based company one of the largest Motor Coach Industries (MCI) operators in Texas.

"The J4500 remains the industry benchmark for luxury and performance," said Omar Ghandour, president of Sam's Limousine and Transportation. "MCI continues to deliver the quality, reliability, and brand presence our customers demand."

The new coaches feature premium amenities, including custom limo-style interiors, metallic blue exteriors with chrome accents, advanced onboard entertainment systems, WiFi connectivity, and ADA-compliant wheelchair lifts........................

While the immediate future remains uncertain on federal emissions regulations and funding, school bus OEMs say they are prepared with varied solutions going forward to meet the needs of every customer, no matter the fuel or where they operate.

That was the key takeaway from a July 13 panel at STN EXPO West in Reno, Nevada. The OEM representatives on stage were Francisco Lagunas, general manager of North America Bus for Cummins; Jim Crowcroft, general sales manager for Thomas Built Buses; Katie Stok, product marketing and commercial readiness for IC Bus; Frank Girardot, the PR, marketing and government relations leader at RIDE; and Brad Beauchamp, EV product segment leader for Blue Bird. The session attempted to provide some clarity to the ever-changing funding and fuel landscape.
