Holiday Bus Travel Rises as Travelers Skip

As Christmas gets closer, millions of Americans are traveling to visit friends and family. With flights facing delays, cancellations, and crowded airports, more people are choosing buses as a reliable and affordable way to travel.
Trailways.com, a private company that runs bus routes across the United States and Canada, says holiday travel is up about 10% on most routes this season. On some routes that used to be mostly covered by plane, like Montreal to New York City and Montreal to Toronto, bus travel has grown by as much as 40%.
Alex Berardi, a senior executive at Trailways, said travel data from November and Thanksgiving shows that more people are choosing buses over planes, especially on longer routes........................

NFI Group Inc. (NFI), a leader in bus and coach mobility solutions, has announced that its Board of Directors has appointed John Sapp to the role of President and Chief Executive Officer effective Jan. 1, 2026. Sapp will be based out of NFI’s Winnipeg, Manitoba headquarters and succeeds Paul Soubry who will be retiring after 16 years with NFI.
“We are thrilled to announce John as NFI’s new CEO,” NFI Board Chair Colin Robertson said. “John brings a strong track record of success, with leadership experience in complex customized manufacturing and aftermarket services. That makes him uniquely positioned to drive the next phase in NFI’s growth. After finishing his afternoon route on Sept. 10, 23-year student transportation veteran Julio Ospina saw a young child walking along the roadway wearing a harness. He immediately relied on his training and intuition.
Ospina, a two-year driver for Wylie ISD located northeast of Dallas, stopped the bus and contacted authorities. He soon learned the child had been reported missing from a neighboring school district that morning. He stayed with the child until police arrived, ensuring the student remained safe and calm.
